Mo News from Rob McBryde, Issue 14, November 2004

Greetings, friends!

Where did this year go? Thanksgiving has come and gone, and Christmas is on the horizon! During this jam-packed time of the year, it is good to stop and reflect on the things we are thankful for. Here is what I am most thankful for: God’s grace in my life, His sovereignty and loving kindness; a supportive mother, father and sister; a job that I love at Mosaic working with youth and young adults; my wife-to-be Inés Velásquez (What a blessing she is to me!); my soon-to-be familia Velásquez; God’s kingdom work being accomplished at Mosaic; and a healthy body and mind.

By the time Issue 15 is hot off the press, I will be a happily married man! Thank you to all who have supported me with prayers and offerings during this faith journey over the last 16 months. Some day I will be able to write an entire book about how God has demonstrated his love and sovereignty so vividly in my life. You have played a role in that story. Thank you!

Blessings,

Rob McBryde <><

Me a Reformer? Hmmm...

I thought this was pretty accurate. Shout out to Ramon for first putting it on his blog, and then to Rachel. I'm just following their lead. :)

You Are the Reformer

1

You're a responsible person - with a clear sense of right and wrong.

High standards are important to you, and you do everything to meet them.

You are your own worst critic, feeling ashamed if you're not perfect.

You have the highest integrity, and people expect you to be fair.

Family is a blessing...

This is me and my future sister-in-law. Her name is Marta Velásquez (isn't she cute?!), and she is 3 years old. It feels strange to me that at age 30 I will have a 3 year old sister, but at the same time it is so cool. Actually, it is such a blessing! I will also have two more parents, three new brothers, and two new sisters. And don't get me started on extended family! In the Old Testament, there were lots of blessings poured down from God in the way of enlarging one's family. I am truly blessed. Thanks, God. :)

The Closing Cometh...

Just got word from the powers that be...Ines and I will close on our new house on Monday!
(jumps up and sings...)
I'm am so excited!
I just can't hide it!
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it!

I'd like to give a big shout out to Cornerstone Mortgage,
Crye-Leike Realty (thanks Mike Gray!), and mom and
dad for teaching me the value of good credit! :)

I saw a shirt that read "Vote or Die"

Now...that seems to be a little extreme for my tastes, but nevertheless I believe in the democratic process and see it as a worthwhile investment of your time. Yes, Ramon and I worked on our authentic friendship for 3 hours and 53 minutes as we waited in the spiraling line at the court house today seeking to cast our vote and let our minute (my-noot) little voices be heard in the form of an electronic ballot box.

I hope that those of you who are able will go out and cast your vote on November 2nd and make a difference in this election. I believe that unlike any other election in history, EVERY vote will be extremely important! (steps down from soap box)

Have a nice day!
